Why your mold assessor and mold remediator should be different companies

Florida law does not let the same company both assess and remediate mold on the same property. That protects you: the company that measures your mold problem is never the one paid to clean it up. If we do your mold assessment, an independent licensed remediator does the cleanup. If we do your mold remediation, the assessment comes from an independent licensed assessor.

What to do right after water, fire or mold damage

Safety first. These simple steps help limit the damage until help arrives. Take photos of everything for your records.

After water damage

  • Stay away from water near outlets or appliances. Shut off power only if it is safe.
  • Stop the source if you can, like the main water valve.
  • Move valuables and furniture off wet floors.
  • Call us as soon as you can. Wet materials can start growing mold within a day or two.

After a fire

  • Do not go back in until the fire department says it is safe.
  • Avoid touching soot covered surfaces, which can smear and set stains.
  • Do not run the HVAC system until it has been checked.
  • Keep windows open for airflow if it is safe to do so.

If you find mold

  • Do not scrub, scrape or disturb it, which can spread spores.
  • Keep people with allergies or breathing problems away from the area.
  • Stop or report any active leak feeding it.
  • Get a mold assessment to learn how far it goes.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you serve my city?

We are based in St. Petersburg and take calls from across Florida, including the regions listed above. Call (727) 353-1724 to confirm availability for your area.

Are you licensed in Florida?

Yes. We hold a Florida Mold Assessor license, MRSA4420, and a Florida Mold Remediator license, MRSR4475.

Can you do both the mold assessment and the mold remediation on my home?

No, not on the same property.

What does mold remediation involve?

Remediation is the cleanup of mold growth. It usually includes setting up containment to keep spores from spreading, removing or cleaning affected materials, cleaning and drying the area, and checking that the work area is clean before containment comes down.

What should I do while I wait for you?

Stay safe first. If water is near outlets or appliances, keep away and only shut off power if you can do it safely. Move valuables out of wet areas, avoid touching or disturbing mold, and take photos of the damage for your records.
